Pear Cider Jello Shots!

The thing you have to love about Jello shots is how many different ways you can make them. Flavor combos are practically endless, but it's always best to start with a good base. Crispin or Fox Barrel ciders are the way to go, the flavors are clean and bright, the carbonation gives a little bubbly to the shots, and you have so many options to mix!
I made these little gems for a Halloween party last night, have to admit they came out pretty great. Although I would make a couple little tweaks, but that's why I do this, so you don't have to mess around with the tweaking!

I ended up combining Orange flavored Jello, Fox Barrel Pacific Pear Cider, and Absolut Wild Tea Vodka. Since it was for Halloween I tinted the shots red and added some gummy worms to make them a little more festive. Of course you could make these any time without the little add on and they would be a welcome addition to any party.
You will need: 1 6oz. package jello (orange or other)
                                                           1 envelope of unflavored gelatine
2 12 oz. bottles Fox Barrel Pacific Pear Cider, cold
1 bottle Absolut Wild Tea (or other flavor), cold                                                                             Cooking spray
About 20 1-3 oz. cups for shots
                                                          1 package gummy worms (optional)
                                                          Red food coloring (optional)

Start by bringing 8 oz. of water to a boil. Empty the jello and gelatine into a large bowl (I used a large measuring cup because of its pour spout), when the water is ready pour onto the jello mix and stir for 2 minutes.

Stir it up...

Pour 20oz. of Pacific Pear Cider and 6 oz. vodka into hot water and jello mixture. Stir.
If you wanted to add food coloring to tint the shots you should do this now before you pour them into the cups. Choose your own color intensity, no amount under a teaspoon of color should change the flavor.

Before you pour the jello into the cups spray them lightly with the cooking spray, this will help to get them out later (I did not do this because I only had butter flavored spray...oops).
You can make many small 1 oz. shots or less larger 2oz. shots, it's really up to you and how many people you're trying to serve. Since the shots are so small they should set up in the fridge in a couple hours. If you wanted to add the gummy worms, I would suggest first letting them chill down for a half hour and then putting the gummies in. I put mine in while they were still hot and it made for a weird texture later, I wouldn't recommend it :p
So there you have it! A fun and festive treat for Halloween, St. Patrick's Day, or whatever, the world of jello and booze is yours for the taking. Just remember to use higher quality alcohol, it tastes better and it won't make you feel horrible later. Party on!

If you have any great flavor combos with Crispin or Fox Barrell Ciders please let me know! Thanks!
